When you’re scrolling through Instagram and checking out the feeds of all these awesome content creators you probably get a bit envious. It looks effortless and easy but it’s actually a lot of work to create a cohesive feed. The key ingredients to every cohesive feed you admire are planning and editing. And today I want to tell you about my 3 favorite Instagram tools for creating a cohesive feed.
How to create a cohesive feed
1. Define your style (a whole separate blog post) and create a mood board
2. Plan out your content in advance (no last-minute panic attack). Need free stock photos?
3. Use a consistent editing process
3 Instagram tools you need to create a cohesive feed
I keep it really simple when it comes to tools. When I find something that works well for me, I stick with it. That’s why I mostly rely on 3 tools to create content for Instagram.

Snapseed is the perfect tool to edit photos on the go. I use this app to retouch the photos I take with my phone. When it comes to editing, you always have to define your style first. Once you know what style you want to achieve it’s only a matter of having a fixed editing process and replicating it with every image.
Editing is a lot about personal taste so I won’t tell you how you should edit your photos. I prefer doing only minimal edits. But I do like my whites to be very white. That’s why I love Snapseed so much. The selective tool lets you easily lighten and whiten your backgrounds with a tap of your finger.
The second tool I use is Adobe Lightroom. In terms of editing, you can do a lot more than with Snapseed. All photos taken with my camera (nothing fancy, just a Canon 500D) are edited in Lightroom. As already said, my editing process stays mostly the same for all images. Even if professional software like Lightroom gives you have lots of possibilities to edit, I keep it light. Personal preference. You can create your own standard process and save it as an action. This way you only need to apply the action to every photo.
Planoly is where it all comes together. Once you’re done editing you simply upload your photos to this scheduling app. What makes Planoly the perfect tool is the grid preview. Now is the time to see if your photos really fit your style. You can drag and rearrange them to see in which order they look best. If you want to have a cohesive feed a tool like Planoly where you see your photos in a grid is a must.
As a plus, you can directly write your caption, add hashtags and schedule your post. And, sooo important, Planoly auto-posts your photo. Huge timesaver.
